A little while back after Thanksgiving, family friends from Norway came to visit for a week. So my mom and I decided to have a nice girls day out and made our way to Del Ray in Alexandria.

It is a cute town filled with lovely shops and delicious eateries. Since the day was cold and wet, we decided to grab some delicious hot chocolate from Artfully Chocolate, Food & Fizz Bar: “ Where Art is Sweet.”

I originally discovered this place when I had just gotten back from NYC, where I tasted my first French Macarons while at brunch with my cousin. So I had a craving one day and searched for a place where I could grab some; Artfully Chocolate came up in the search as one of the carriers of Parisian Macarons by Michel Patisserie.
So I checked the place out a couple of months ago with my boyfriend for a nice little day-date. We got some macarons, a nice assortment, and a hot chocolate to share.

There is an amazing array of different flavors to choose from for hot chocolate, which in the summer you can opt for a delicious cool milkshake. We had decided on a Lucy hot chocolate. This delectable treat was infused with chipotle pepper and semi-sweet chocolate and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon dust. It was so delicious and had a nice kick to it!

This time I decided upon a Carmen Miranda hot chocolate, my mom got a Charo and Torill got a Judy Garland. It was such a wonderful treat and warmed us from our toes to our fingertips.

This lovely café also serves as an Art Gallery. There are beautiful pieces for sale hung on the walls and the tables themselves were even pieces of art. They carried a nice assortment of packaged treats to buy; so we were able to get some nice stocking stuffers for Christmas.

After we finished our treats, we headed over to the Thai Peppers to grab some lunch. A bit out of order, but sometimes that is the best way to enjoy a meal. :)
